Cinnamon Leaves

Scientific name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum

Cinnamon leaves are another excellent choice for aquariums, offering similar benefits to mulberry leaves while adding their own unique qualities. Like mulberry leaves, cinnamon leaves slowly decay, providing a natural aesthetic and shelter for aquatic life, particularly for bottom dwellers like shrimp, crayfish, and small fish. Cinnamon leaves release mild to medium levels of tannins, which slightly acidify the water, helping to simulate natural blackwater conditions and improve water quality.

Adding cinnamon leaves to my aquarium has been a wonderful experience. The leaves release beneficial tannins that help stabilize the water quality and create a more natural environment for my fish and shrimp. They also give the tank a unique, earthy aroma that’s quite pleasant. Plus, their appearance adds a touch of natural beauty, making my aquarium look more vibrant and lively.
Steve Harwy :

Indian Almond leaves

Indian almond leaves (catappa leaves) and jackfruit leaves are beneficial for betta fish in aquariums. Indian almond leaves release tannins with antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to maintain water quality, lower pH levels naturally, and reduce stress. Jackfruit leaves also release tannins, conditioning water and creating a natural environment that supports betta fish health and well-being.
