Guava Leaves

Guava Leaves

Scientific name: Psidium guajava

Guava leaves are a great addition to aquariums, providing a natural look while slowly decaying and supplying food supplements for fish. They create an ideal habitat for bottom dwellers, offering both shelter and comfort. As a food source and nutritional supplement, Guava leaves benefit freshwater aquariums by releasing medium levels of tannins and possessing buffering qualities. Additionally, they exhibit antibacterial properties, promoting a healthier aquatic environment. These leaves are particularly beneficial for shrimp, snails, and suckermouth catfish.

  1. Remove the leaves from the package and add them to water in the required quantity. Let them sit for a few days until they sink.
  2. If you need the leaves to sink faster, follow these steps:
    • Use dechlorinated water and boil the leaves for a few minutes.
    • Stir well, then remove the leaves and let them cool.
    • Once cooled, add the leaves to the aquarium.
Andrew Collins :
I’ve been using Guava Leaves in my aquarium for a couple of months now, and the difference is clear. My fish are more active, and the water stays cleaner for longer. These leaves also give the tank a beautifully natural look without much effort. They’re easy to use and have become a staple in my aquarium care routine. Picked them up from a great aquarium shop known for reliable aquarium products highly recommend!
Sophie Lane :
I started using Guava Leaves after a recommendation from a fellow hobbyist and couldn’t be happier. My reptiles instantly took to them—the dark, textured leaves give the setup a much more natural and calming vibe. Since adding them, the environment feels healthier overall. I ordered mine from a well-curated online store that focuses on sustainable aquarium and terrarium solutions definitely worth checking out if you’re looking to upgrade your habitat naturally.

Belly Pods

Belly pods, from the Aegle marmelos tree, are used in aquariums to release beneficial compounds, similar to Indian almond leaves. They are beneficial for fish such as bettas, angelfish, discus, and tetras, providing natural antibacterial properties and creating a healthy aquatic environment.

Indian Almond leaves

Indian almond leaves (catappa leaves) and jackfruit leaves are beneficial for betta fish in aquariums. Indian almond leaves release tannins with antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to maintain water quality, lower pH levels naturally, and reduce stress. Jackfruit leaves also release tannins, conditioning water and creating a natural environment that supports betta fish health and well-being.
