Cinnamon Leaves

Cinnamon Leaves

Scientific name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum

Cinnamon leaves are another excellent choice for aquariums, offering similar benefits to mulberry leaves while adding their own unique qualities. Like mulberry leaves, cinnamon leaves slowly decay, providing a natural aesthetic and shelter for aquatic life, particularly for bottom dwellers like shrimp, crayfish, and small fish. Cinnamon leaves release mild to medium levels of tannins, which slightly acidify the water, helping to simulate natural blackwater conditions and improve water quality.

  1. Remove the leaves from the package and add them to water in the required quantity. Let them sit for a few days until they sink.
  2. If you need the leaves to sink faster, follow these steps:
    • Use dechlorinated water and boil the leaves for a few minutes.
    • Stir well, then remove the leaves and let them cool.
    • Once cooled, add the leaves to the aquarium.

Ethan Miles :
Adding Cinnamon Leaves to my aquarium has been such a rewarding choice. They release helpful tannins that naturally improve water quality, making my fish and shrimp thrive. The leaves add a beautiful earthy look and even a light, pleasant aroma. I found them at this place that specializes in aquarium products definitely worth it if you’re planning to buy aquarium essentials.
Laura Bennett :
I’ve been using Cinnamon Leaves in my terrarium for a few weeks now, and the change is amazing. My reptiles seem more relaxed, and the leaves help keep the humidity levels just right. They also bring a nice, subtle scent and rustic charm to the setup. Got mine from a reliable aquarium shop online — this place really knows their stuff when it comes to natural decor.

Belly Pods

Belly pods, from the Aegle marmelos tree, are used in aquariums to release beneficial compounds, similar to Indian almond leaves. They are beneficial for fish such as bettas, angelfish, discus, and tetras, providing natural antibacterial properties and creating a healthy aquatic environment.

Indian Almond leaves

Indian almond leaves (catappa leaves) and jackfruit leaves are beneficial for betta fish in aquariums. Indian almond leaves release tannins with antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to maintain water quality, lower pH levels naturally, and reduce stress. Jackfruit leaves also release tannins, conditioning water and creating a natural environment that supports betta fish health and well-being.
